DIAMOND T 1911 – 1958 CHICAGO US
The origins of the Diamond T name can be traced back to the 19th century to shoes manufactured under the Diamond brand.
The wealth created by this successful business allowed the owner’s son Charles to indulge himself in the new recreation of the age of the motor car.
At the age of 28 he formed the Diamond T Motor Car Company on Chicago’s north side and by 1916 a new factory was being built on Chicago’s southwest side with a half-mile long assembly line.
Charles A Tilt built his first motor car in Chicago in 1905, in 1910 a local plumber asked for a truck and this started the venture into trucks, along with the Trademark of a green diamond with a big T inside.
Diamond T was sold to White Trucks in 1958 and production was moved to the Reo plant, Michigan and the name continued only to 1966
